An operating cadence needs shared vision

🌱 Seedling · 1 min

There’s no point in building an operating cadence in the absence of shared vision. Operating cadences allow you to move faster and with more confidence, but you need to know where you want to go in the first place. That’s why you should Align teams before empowering them.

When we are committed to a shared vision, we exhibit two behaviors which may seem contradictory:

Note that not everyone who’s working to achieve the vision will be committed or enrolled. Some people will just be compliant, and Compliance is not commitment.

Shared vision fosters risk taking and experimentation. When people are immersed in a vision, they often don’t know how to do it. They run an experiment. They change direction and run another experiment. Everything is an experiment, but there is no ambiguity.
